Proof:
The end of an era very nearly became an error when the western tower tried to make a bid for freedom across Jan Smuts Drive. Fortunately, it was too broken up about the loss of its sibling to manage it. I’m glad I don’t have to wash the demolition crew chief’s trousers.
There are some more shots of the demolition of the Athlone power station cooling towers on my Flickr photostream.
tis odd that the tower chose to do an impersonation of the Leaning Tower of Pisa only seconds before death. Whatever could it mean? Hopefully, not another Dan Brown book..

Sheesh, also strangely saddened by loss of the towers. Not sure why. They were bloody ugly but then even ugly landmarks are landmarks.

So you’re saying we can’t blow up the stadium? 😦

The giant space ship can go! It’s hardly a landmark of any substance. Now all we just have to find a muslim extremest group and convince them that it offends their delicate sensitivities.

sad indeed..Oddly enough..I feel a great lose every time they destroy a wooded area I remember as a kid only to find out they put up a bunch of new homes people can no longer afford.
I liked the “Batman” photo..It made me crack up.

Same thing happened to the tower. I should play Vegas.

Perhaps they can use some bits of the towers to finish the Flyover to Nowhere? Or was that finally finished before the vuvuzelas trumpeted the new dawn? 😀

Don’t believe that “unfinished” horseshit for a moment. That’s just the story to cover for the fact that they’re landing strips for UFOs.
